Before beginning his JD program, Deven graduated from UCLA with a major in Global Studies, focusing on International Development, U.S. Immigration, and Sociology, earning a 3.87 GPA and multiple academic honors.
Deven completed a competitive Legal Externship at the Riverside County Court of Appeals, working directly under Associate Justice Carol Codrington and Presiding Justice Manuel A. Ramirez. He supported defense strategies in cases ranging from domestic violence to armed robbery, gaining first-hand insight into criminal defense practice.
At UCLA, Deven was a campus leader as Co-Director of Outreach for UCLA Legal Underground, expanding access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds. He also co-founded the Middle Eastern Law Students Association, offering free LSAT tutoring, organizing multicultural pre-law events, and fostering inclusion within the legal pipeline. Beyond academics, Deven’s commitment to service is demonstrated through his long-standing work with AmeriCorps, where he supported unhoused individuals, DACA recipients, and transgender youth. His extensive community involvement earned him the Presidential Community Service Award for completing over 1,000 hours of service, alongside recognition on the Dean’s Honor List and the Undergraduate Research Fellows Scholarship.
